Summer Crafts w/ Children

Updated: Dec 23, 2019

Summer is here! School’s out! That means there are a lot of children looking for things to do. One favorite place that I love to go is to the beach. I enjoy collecting seashells. I have a beach theme aquarium that I display them in. No fish, just my seashells. Of course there is only so much room in an aquarium so what else can you do with all of the seashells you collect?

I always see the children on the beach collecting the seashells just as I do and I wonder what do they do with all of them when they get home? Well, here is another way I found to display my seashells and it would be a great project for the children to do this summer as well. After all, you can never have too many projects to keep them busy during the summer.

If you can find shells with holes that’s great. If not, you can make a hole or attach them on to the string with a strong glue (if their light enough). Be sure to tie a knot after each shell to keep them in place on the string (if they aren't glued). Tie two sticks together in an X shape. Then tie the strings to the X and hang it where the light and breeze can catch it.

If you can’t make it to the beach you can always go to the craft store and purchase shells that already have pre-drilled holes. It will be a great way to pass the time and decorate your pool or yard area.

Not interested in the beach. You can always make a wind chime with other items of their own personal taste. Maybe small trinkets or buttons.
