In the Bible it speaks of being kind to all for we never know who it is we are engaging such as in Hebrews 13:2 “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”
Over the years, this verse has resonated with me and I can’t even tell you why. It maybe that so many people, ones that I have not known, have shown kindness to me when I really needed it. I am not an angel, but I can tell you, that those people have been blessed in some way because they really made a major difference in my life at that very moment.
I have many testimonies that I could give that would make you wonder if some of these people weren’t angels themselves guiding me. For some reason this was my first thought as I woke up this morning. BTW, thank you God for waking me up today.
It also occurred to me that just as people remember the joy or kindness you give they also remember the pain or discomfort they received from you. They may not even understand that maybe you are going through something and you aren’t handling it very well. All they know is how you are making them feel at that very second. Since we never know what people will remember about us, shouldn’t we leave everyone with a positive memory?
As I write this I feel compelled to offer a challenge to everyone. No matter how rough your day is going today or even how great it may be, how many people can you get to smile today? You don’t have to do anything extravagant or even speak, just get people in your path to smile. I am curious as to how many of you will be astounded by how it made you feel as well.
Romans 12:10 (NIV)
10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
